Essential Software: Free Disk Usage Analyzer

A very common problem people have relating to Windows is the potential to run out of space on the windows system partition – especially if they haven’t allocated enough space to that partition.  This means that a subsequent program installation will be obstructed by the lack of space, as quite often software installations to any partition require a certain amount of space on the system partition, too.  Anyone who has tried to weed out large culprit files, safe for deletion before, knows what a pain it is to check within each folder by arranging files by size each time.

Disk Cleanup Utility

Free Disk Usage Analyzer allows you to find with ease, the largest files or folders of files on any hard drive of your choosing – depending on which tab at the bottom you select.  There’s a nice, little meter next to each item’s reported space consumption that gives you an alternate graphical reading in as a percentage.

Other Features

Free Disk Usage Analyzer also gives you the ability to filter by file type and specify the minimum file size to include.

Also, if you select the ‘Contents’ tab at the bottom (the file and folder view), you get a handy pie chart depicting a folder to disk space usage comparison as well as free remaining space for that drive.

Version at the time of writing: 1.01.22
