Essential Software: IMGBurn

This handy burning software from Lightening UK! allows you to select alternative ways to access your burner. This came in handy for me when I had trouble accessing media I had burnt when using new media with old firmware in my burner (the whole system would lock up until I opened the tray again). I updated my firmware, but still couldn’t access my poorly written media. However by using this software and selecting the Patin Couffin (you would need to download this driver from here: Patin Couffin Layer) driver under Settings -> IO tab, I was able to access my media to format it and start from scratch writing a good copy.

This program is packed with features such as:

ImgBurn supports a wide range of image file formats – including BIN, CUE, DI, DVD, GI, IMG, ISO, MDS, NRG and PDI.

It can burn Audio CD’s from any file type supported via DirectShow / ACM – including AAC, APE, FLAC, M4A, MP3, MP4, MPC, OGG, PCM, WAV, WMA and WV.

You can use it to build DVD Video discs (from a VIDEO_TS folder), HD DVD Video discs (from a HVDVD_TS folder) and Blu-ray Video discs (from a BDAV / BDMV folder) with ease.

There is a wealth of configuration options to numerous to mention here. Explore for yourself!

If you run into trouble with the software or have some other questions relating to a problem , the Lightening UK! have a support forum here:

ImgBurn supports all the Windows OS’s – Windows 95, 98, Me, NT4, 2000, XP, 2003, Vista and 2008 (including all the 64-bit versions). If you use Wine, it should also run on Linux and other x86-based Unixes.
